Meerkat Wildlife

Meerkat Wildlife

Volunteer in Africa and discover a continent of diverse cultures and spectacular wildlife. The Meerkat Wildlife Internship is situated in South Africa on a 1746 ha farm, located in a hub of conservation and animal reintroduction efforts in the Great Karoo basin combined with a still operating stock farming business.

The Mountain Zebra-Camdeboo Protected Environment (MZCPE) is located between Camdeboo National Park (Graaff-Reinet) and Mountain Zebra National Park (Cradock) in the Eastern Cape. The vision for the future is ultimately to link Camdeboo National Park at Graaff-Reinet with the Mountain Zebra National Park at Cradock, protecting a huge diversity of plant and animal species.

Waterval Farm-Stay

The farm Waterval is about 32 kilometres outside Graaff-Reinet on the Erasmuskloof road; a winding gravel road slowly snaking along the Broederstroomriver. It offers spectacular mountain views, but be warned: the terrain can be strenuous so drive slowly and rather enjoy the beautiful surrounds.

We breed cattle, sheep and horses on Waterval. There’s also a fair amount of game roaming the open veld. Waterval is a paradise for anyone who loves to walk, climb mountains or do outdoor activities. The area is rich in fossils and anyone interested in the plants of the Karoo would find much to appreciate here. But mostly you come here for the tranquillity; the silence. It’s time to unwind and relax. Come to Waterval to experience the Karoo at its best.
